Western sword fern (Polystichum munitum)
$12.00
Beautiful, hardy evergreen fern. Western sword ferns are abundant in low elevation coniferous forests throughout western North America. Sword ferns prefer cool, damp, shady conditions, though they can withstand periods of dry shade. They are ambivalent about soil type, they thrive in both clay and rich humus, but prefer slightly acidic soil.
Sword ferns perform great in containers and pots, as well as prepared garden beds.
They will also do quite well indoors, provided they receive indirect light and consistent soil moisture.
One of the most common, yet most impressive, of our native ferns!
