I am a former professor in Anthropology whose research includes ethnobotany and the study of plants from archaeological sites. As someone who is interested in the relationships between plants and human culture, I am always striving to connect people to plants in meaningful ways.
I currently own and manage a small plant nursery outside of Eugene, Oregon. Our mission is to grow robust and low-maintenance plants that benefit the soil and our fellow human, animal, and insect communities.
Nearly all of our plants are herbaceous perennials, meaning they will come back year after year. This minimizes soil disturbance and means less planting work for you! We grow all of our plants on site from seeds and parent plants sourced from small Oregon and California based companies. We use organic growing media and never use pesticides or growth hormones on our plants- what you see is what you get.
We have a wide selection of plants native to Oregon and the Willamette Valley. We also offer a variety of North American natives and cultivars that are pollinator friendly and thrive in our notoriously challenging clay soil.
Recent additions to our selection include popular natural dye plants. These can be purchased individually or as a packaged set.

All of our plants are grown at our nursery in Eugene. We source our seeds from small seed businesses in Oregon and California and from employee owned companies. We also grow a few of our plants from parent plant material sourced from local wholesale nurseries. We love supporting small businesses while ensuring that we can grow healthy plants from healthy seed.
Sustainably Grown
We aim to grow the healthiest and highest quality plants. We never use hormones to manipulate the growth and flowering of our plants. All of our potting media is certified organic and we do not use insecticides on any of our plants - our version of pest management is our chickens!

We believe that gardening is for everyone and should be a fun, playful, and rewarding experience. We only sell plants that are well suited to thrive with little intervention. Our plants are hardy and adaptable to our constantly changing and unpredictable climate reality. We offer growing advice at point of sale to ensure our customers are confident in their selections. We also offer plant bundles for those looking to take the guesswork out of plant purchases.
