Western meadowrue (Thalictrum polycarpum)
$6.00
Thalictrum polycarpus is a beautiful and upright perennial (3-5' H) that prefers damp soils and part to full shade. The foliage is lacy and delicate and reminiscent of fern fronds. The plant is dioecious, meaning the male and female flowers occur on separate plants. In late spring/early summer, male plants are covered in yellow-green flowers with large tassel-like stamen; female flowers are dense, maroon-colored clusters.
The height makes this plant a great backdrop to any shady border or corner of the garden. Besides being beautiful, Thalictrum supports multiple insect species with its pollen rich flowers.
