A naturally occurring hybrid between Lewis's and Scarlet Monkeyflower. Like its parent plants, it prefers sunny and consistently damp locations.

The flower color ranges from magenta to like pink, often with a white stripe along the throat.

The leaves are dentate and slightly tacky. The sticky leaves have a pleasant lemon aroma. It grows tall like E. cardinalis, though does well with a late summer prune. Not picky about pruning method; I tend to be quite aggressive and cut it back to the ground. It is very deer and pest resistant. Does well in damp or wet areas of the garden, tolerates wet claggy clay, and does just fine in a pot with some nice potting soil.

Butterflies and hummingbirds love it.
