Rubio Pacific Ninebark (Physocarpus capitatus 'Rubio') is a compact 4 to 6 ft cultivar of the PNW native Pacific Ninebark. It has a smaller and more compact stature suitable for small spaces and residential-scale landscapes. Adaptable plant that thrives in full sun to part shade. Like the native, it is a tough and wildlife-friendly shrub with bee-pollinated flowers. The red bark is suitable for winter interest.
Tolerant of clay, drought, pollution, and wet feet; it is one of the toughest ornamental shrubs. Prune after spring flowering since flowers appear on previous year's growth.
