Nootka rose (Rosa nutkana)

Price

$14.00

One of our PNW native roses.  Rosa nutkana is the largest of our native roses and spreads more quickly than Rosa gymnocarpa or Rosa pisocarpa.  A highly adaptable plant that thrives in moist and dry soils, and grows in part shade to full sun.

Not a great option for small, confined spaces as it tends to grow quite tall and wide under ideal circumstances (up to 6 feet in height and width) and spreads via stolons. That said, this is great plant to fill in large gaps in a landscape or it can be used as a hedgerow. The pink flowers are the largest of our native roses and are present throughout spring and early summer. The flowers are incredibly fragrant and deer tend to leave the plants alone. The flowers are great for using in baking and teas and they are a huge hit with native bees.
