Nettleleaf giant hyssop is native to locations acrooss the western US and southern British Columbia. It occupies a range of sites, from dry sandy mountainous washes to lower elevation meadows and grasslands. It is one of our many native mints (Lamiaceae family) and is suitable to a range of growing conditions.

It is a clumping mint and will grow slowly, but is not an aggressive spreader like European peppermint or spearmint. It has a distinctive scent and can one can use the aromatic leaves and flowers in small amounts, cooked in dishes, or steeped to make an herbal tea.

It is a hug hit with pollinators, including bumblebees, solitary bees, European honeybees, and butterflies.
