Lance-leafed coreposis (Coreopsis lanceolata)
$8.00
Lancele-leafed coreposis, sometimes known as "tickseed", is a North America native prairie plant that is known for attracting pollinating species. Coreopsis is easy to grow and thrives best in full sun and well draining soil. It grows very well in pots and in garden settings. It tolerates drought, but will flower and grow more profusely in damp soil.
As a dye plant, coreposis will yeild colors ranging from light yellow to deep tan. It performs best on protein fibers, to include silk and wool. The flowers may be used fresh or dried and they do not require a mordant, making them nice for beginner dyers.
Coreposis is a perennial that blooms from June to October. Deadheading will increase the number of flowers. The plant will spread via rhizomes, so it is best to grow the plant in a container to keep it from spreading and to ensure it receives adequate drainage during our wet winter months.
