False Solomon's Seal (Maianthemum racemosum)

Price

$12.00

Maianthemum racemosum is an excellent clump-forming perennial which typically grows 2-3' tall. It grows best in part to full shade and slowly spreads by rhizomes, often forming thick colonies.

The arching stems of alternate, pointed, leaves provide a lush understory. Plumes of tiny, fragrant, creamy white flowers appear in spring, followed by ruby red berries in summer, often persisting into fall. Foliage turns yellow in fall before going dormant in winter. Pairs well with sword ferns, deer ferns, and dicentra formosa.

Roots do not like to be disturbed.
