Columbian Lily, Wild Tiger Lily (Lilium columbianum)
$12.00
Lilium columbianum is a true lily native to western North America. It can be found in lowland mixed forests and meadows in California, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
Plant in full sun or partly shady conditions before the bulb breaks dormancy (spring), or after flowering and going dormant (fall), as it is fragile when actively growing. Tiger lilies prefer rich, damp soil and do well in naturalistic gardens and in container gardens. They may reach up to 3-4 feet tall, so plan accordingly. They look particularly lovely amongst dicentra, vancouveria, ferns, and other woodland plants.
Let the plant dry out in late summer/fall so that it can go dormant and avoid overwatering in order to prevent the bulb from rotting.
