About the event
Artist Megan Mesloh will cover the basics of natural dyeing with foraged and cultivated plants specific to the PNW. We will cover mordanting (pre-treating) the fabric, how to process and i.d. plants, making the dye vats, as well as creating a color swatch book, and dyed scarf to take home. All materials provided.
I will be sharing common easy-to-grow plants for making natural dyes, their growing requirements, recommendations for successfully overwintering perennials, and tips for harvesting them. A selection of Japanese indigo (Persicaria tinctoria), madder (Rubia tinctorum), lance-leaf coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata), and Black Knight Scabiosa (Scabiosa atropurpurea) will be offered for sale.
10am-2pm Sunday September 7th at Hendrick’s Park in Eugene, OR.
